Who is fly BABY?
American born artist Julia Rolando grew up in Upstate New York where as a young child was encouraged to explore a variety of arts. Summers were spent at Rabbit Hill, an artists workshop and studio belonging to Louise Parsons, whose own unique talent of painting and crafting for children had an enormous impact on Julia. She moved to Australia in 2007 to marry her childhood sweetheart, Anthony. Julia established fly BABY studios shortly after landing on shore, where she could focus on her passion for childrens illustration and garment design. Her quirky illustrations now appear on her own line of textiles and fly BABY clothing range. She draws inspiration from her own happy childhood as well as the idyllic life she shares with her husband and adorable daughter, Phoebe.
It was after the birth of their daughter in February of 2009, that The Healing Suit by fly BABY's infant and childrens hospital pajamas product line was launched. This innovative, patented design has revolutionised how hospitalised children are dressed post surgery as well as for any child requiring a lengthy hospital stay.
Julia's career in fashion and design includes experiences in garment design, textile illustration and manufacturing. Her home and studio are located in countryside Victoria, Australia.
