 Our little girl Phoebe was born in February last year seriously ill with a congenital heart defect. She required immediate open heart surgery. We gently kissed our fragile 5 day old before she went off into the operating theater. It was the first of a number of procedures she would face, and the road to recovery was going to be a very long one.
She required several weeks in the Pedeatric Intensive Care Unit, and several more in the Heart Ward afterward. We felt quite helpless, unable to do the normal everyday activities that you would expect to do with a newborn; There were even days and weeks that we were unable to cuddle her due to all of the lines and equipment that she was hooked up to. It was extremely heartbreaking. It was even more distressing to see her little body exposed to the world, wounds still visible from her surgeries, the lines and tubes she was attached to there for all to see. We were unable to dress her, to make her feel safe and secure, to keep her warm. Eventually, when we could hold her, it was a struggle to keep the lines untangled and everything in place. We knew we weren't the only parents to be feeling this frustration, so we had to do something about it. That's where the idea for the fly BABY Healing Suit came from. We immediately began work sketching up designs to resolve our clothing dilemma, and with our daughter as inspiration we created a jumpsuit so perfect the hospital staff demanded we put them into production. It was then that my husband and I looked at each other and knew that this small but amazing piece of clothing was going to change lives. The features of the fly BABY Healing Suit's patented design include: - -A comfortable, one piece design, joined at the feet of the garment, with secure plastic studs following the perimeter of the garment. The baby can be placed upon the garment, feet inserted and plastic studs closed, safely securing the various lines and tubes into place.
- -Fold over mittens to help eleviate pulling of tubes by infants and to keep hands toasty warm.
- -Sewn in feet to keep feet warm.
- -Slits in bottom of feet to allow use of Saturation Probes, without the removal of garment. Probe leads safely rest through portal.
